Halal-friendly hotels are a rising trend across Asia. Here are 5 of our hotel picks.

Islam is the world’s fastest growing religion, with over 1.8 billion Muslims around the world and counting, making them a major consumer market.

Muslim travelers are among the biggest spenders when it comes to international travel, and their market value is expected to to reach US$220 billion in 2020, according to research conducted by MasterCard and CrescentRating, a world authority on halal travel.

This has, of course, led to a boom in halal tourism, catering to the specific needs of Muslim travelers according to requirements set by Shariah (Islamic) law.

Halal-friendly hotels and resorts generally serve halal food, provide prayer rooms, have separate swimming pools, spa facilities, and sometimes even private beaches for women and children.

However, while they provide Muslim facilities, non-Muslim visitors are welcome to stay as well.

Asia, in particular, has become a favorite destination among Muslim travelers, thanks to its rich culture and diversity, as well as the availability of amenities for Muslims.
