Best beaches in Sydney

We can’t say for all but the vast view of the clear blue ocean sure leaves us feeling some type of way. It’s the moment where it sinks in and all the quotes on Pinterest make sense. If you grew up by the beach or you lived in beach town, it may seem rather normal to you — but for the rest of us — we get smitten every time. So if you’re an ocean-holic visiting Sydney, this one’s for ya.

Bronte Beach

You may be looking out for Bondi beach, but we’ll get to that later — ‘cause we gotta give the spotlight to Bondi’s gorgeous baby sister — Bronte beach. It’s less crowded but just as breathtaking, AND it’s family-friendly. Spend your day by the beach along the seafront where there are cafés (check out The Bogey Hole Café!), or take a stroll down the coastal walk. If you’re just seeking to have a chill dip, you can head to the quieter rock pools or ocean baths at the southern end. The beach is easily accessible from the city, as it’s situated conveniently for those wanting to check beaches off their list!

Manly Beach

Whatever day it is you’re on the beach, it feels like the weekend — especially at Manly beach.

It’s a perfect blend of big waves and shady shores. This North Shore suburb has one of the smallest spans between the Harbour waters and the open ocean. If you’re taking a ferry ride to the beach from Circular Quay, brace yourself for a postcard-esque view of the sea and the well known landmarks of Sydney. Manly offers quaint cafes, restaurants, and bakeries too! Check out the Manly Markets for fresh organic produce, Pocket Pizza for pizza and booze, or Queen Chow Manly for seafood!

Bondi Beach

So here we are at Bondi — the star of the show. It wouldn’t be a beach list without Bondi on it.

Golden sand? Check. Waves? Check. People watching? Check. The vitamin sea here attracts endless people, and its popularity has probably flooded your Instagram feed. Since you’re smack in the middle of a tourist attraction, don’t miss out on the other highlights of Bondi: The Iceberg Pool, the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, beach side bars (check out Ode and The Anchor) and more.

Little Bay Beach

Okay, time to take a dive into our secret beach list, starting with Little Bay beach. It’s a secluded beach nestled between granite cliffs, and it’s one of Sydney's undiscovered jewels that’s low-key popular with locals. Thank us later. Since it’s protected from large coastal swells, it’s ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and fishing. Smitten is what you’ll be when you catch a look into its crystal clear water.

Lady Bay Beach

This one’s for those who fancy sunbathing in your birthday suit! Lady Bay is one of the few official nudist bathing spots in Sydney. It’s also right by Hornby Lighthouse where you get an epic view of the Tasman Sea. This South Head location is also a prime whale spotting point!

Lady Martins Beach

Lady Martins Beach is a long, narrow stretch of sand tucked in Felix Bay, among Australia’s most expensive harbour side homes in Point Piper, between Double Bay and Rose Bay in Sydney’s east. Its location might be a little tricky to get to, so it’s best if you have a local friend who can guide you around.

Now that you’ve got a good idea about the beaches in Sydney, are you ready to flaunt your bikini bod yet?!
