The perfect 72-hour itinerary in Langkawi

We have partnered with homegrown Firefly airline to bring you the first ever You Go, We Go: Traveloka Travel Vlog series, where we hope to inspire people to explore the world. In this travel vlog series, we’ll be bringing you around the enchanting Southeast Asia and for each episode, we’ll zoom in on little-known and interesting attractions. You definitely don’t want to miss this!

In this fourth episode, travelers Amanda, Julia and Michelle flew to Langkawi for a fun beach vacation. Known as the Jewel of Kedah, this island up north is famous for sandy beaches, forest parks and waterfalls. The island has been duty-free since 1987, so shopping for fragrances, chocolates and kitchenware is also one of the popular activities here. Wanna know what else you can do in Langkawi? Let’s follow the trio’s adventure and if you’re heading to Langkawi soon, we’ve put together their activities itinerary-style to guide your trip!

Day 1: A relaxing first day

Morning: Kiki Animal FarmAfter checking in to their hotel, Meritus Pelangi Langkawi in Pantai Cenang, the girls visited the hotel’s Kiki Animal Farm where visitors can feed goats, ducks and chickens. This will definitely keep your kids entertained and even if you don’t have kids, hey, there’s a little animal lover in all of us!

Lunch: Seashell Restaurant, Pantai Cenang

There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the Cenang area, but if you’re looking for something more local, head over to Seashell Restaurant. They offer classic Malay dishes and a unique lunch experience amidst stunning paddy fields.

Dinner: Yellow Beach Cafe

After getting some rest, your tummy might start to rumble and you’ll know it’s time for dinner. The Yellow Beach Cafe transforms into a cozy bar after the sun sets over Pantai Cenang. With chairs, walls and even hammocks in varying shades of yellow, the cafe is hip and popular among locals and tourists alike. The food in the Cenang area can be on the high side, but the cafe offers a more affordable price on local and Western fare. Also, enjoy a fire show while you’re here!

Day 2: Get up close with nature

Morning: Kilim Geoforest Park

Wake up early and enjoy a mangrove tour at the magnificent Kilim Geoforest Park. Covered by sprawling mangrove forests and limestone rock formations, the only and best way to explore its beauty is by going on a boat ride in the Kilim River. Enjoy the breathtaking landscape of Kilim — the emerald green water, pristine mangrove forests and towering limestone rock formations that are sure to leave you in awe. Make sure to bring your camera as well so you can capture wild animals such as the white-bellied sea eagles, mud crabs, squirrels, monitor lizards and many more. If you’re lucky, you might be able to see an otter or even a dolphin!

Continuing the day’s animal theme, head over to Underwater World Langkawi, one of the largest marine and freshwater aquaria in South East Asia. Stroll in the 15-meter-long walk-through tunnel which houses a variety of big fishes and sea creatures such as sharks and the giant green turtle. Don’t miss out on the highlight of the aquaria — the smallest of the crested penguins, the Rockhopper penguins are at the Sub-Antarctica section. Fun fact: these penguins are called “Rockhoppers” because — wait for it — they jump from rock to rock.
